The land of Tristan was once in full bloom, having been ruled and administered for centuries by the members of the House of Malantris. Under their last king, Marwald Malantris, also known as the Righteous One, the inhabitants of Tristan enjoyed a time of idyll and harmony. The conflicts with the neighboring countries of Udis and Syras had been resolved, and an agreement had also been reached with the werewolves of Ebris. Under the banner of peace, the dignitaries of the countries gathered to seal their agreement in a peace treaty, and a time of peace and prosperity seemed poised to begin. But then the vampires came, having previously remained underground in clans and roamed the lands like a plague. United now, they intended to build their own center of power, and their choice fell upon Tristan. Like a deadly swarm, the vampires swept across the land, infecting it like a boil and destroying everything in their path. House Malantris and its soldiers fought bravely, but they stood no chance against the vampires and their undead hordes. King Marwald and his entire family were slaughtered, and the vampires finally seized control of the land. The five great clans were strong, but they were divided on what to do with Tristan. In the end, it was the von Reichenwald family - the strongest of the clans - who seized control. They moved into the old castle of the Marwald family and divided the land between the five clans. The remaining humans were gradually pushed out, but the von Reichenwalds decided that some of their settlements should remain in human hands, as the clans had to be supplied with blood. The surrounding countries were shocked by the vampiric coup and saw the rising vampire aristocracy as a major threat. They tried to drive out the occupiers by any means necessary, but they were no match for the vampires, their black magic, and their undead followers. Most of the kingdoms left Tristan to its fate, but the werewolves of the land of Ebris put up resistance. They were able to put a stop to the clans to some extent, and a conflict soaked in blood and death that has lasted for centuries to this day.The von Reichenwald family has been the leading clan ruling Tristan since taking over the country, having divided it into different territories. The von Reichenwalds rule the center of Tristan, while the other four clans rule the north, south, east, and west. Although the clans are allowed to rule their own regions, the von Reichenwalds always reserve the right to intervene if something goes against their plans. For example, a clan is put in its place if it is too greedy with human resources or risks an unwanted conflict with a neighboring country.
THE CLANS
VON REICHENWALD

The von Reichenwald family consists of indigenous vampires, having been born as such. The eldest members, numbering over 600 years old, are deeply versed in the arcane arts of black magic. They command Tristan's army with an iron fist and exhibit a fierce, aggressive stance against the werewolves, whom they contemptuously regard as mere filth. Leading the von Reichenwald family are Count Victor and Countess Wilhelmina von Reichenwald, both of whom have surpassed the 600-year mark in their undead existence. These two formidable vampires seized control of Tristan long ago, summarily ejecting the former human monarchs and consolidating their grip on power.

DEVORATE

Clan Devorate is one of the five vampire clans that dominate Tristan, ruling over the southern region of the country. Comprising only pureblood vampires, the Devorates stand apart from the other clans, notably the Von Reichenwalds who have created vampires among their ranks. The Devorates' disdain for turned vampires has led to a dearth of new offspring, resulting in a stagnant population that has crept ever closer to the brink of madness due to the unrelenting passage of centuries. Despite these challenges, the Devorate clan remains the second most powerful and formidable of the five vampire factions in Tristan.

CHÁSMA

Clan Chàsma, masters of chaos magic and sentinels of the Eastern frontier, stand as the bulwark against the relentless werewolf invasions threatening Tristan's eastern borders. In their ceaseless vigil to protect the realm, the vampires of Clan Chàsma delved deep into the arcane arts of chaos magic. This dark sorcery has enabled them to forge a menagerie of fearsome, otherworldly creatures - from manticores to nagas, and harpies - which they strategically position along the borders to repel the werewolf scourge. The third most powerful of the five vampire clans, Chàsma's chaos magic and monstrous guardians remain a critical line of defense against the werewolves' predations.

GLACOS

The Glacos clan reigns over Tristan's bleak and frozen northern expanse, where the harsh winters and sparse human population presented a significant challenge to their vampiric sustenance. Faced with this predicament, the Glacos were forced to adapt their diet, initially recoiling at the taste of animal blood. Through grim determination and necessity, they learned to tolerate and eventually accept this less nutritious alternative to human blood, enabling them to endure the unforgiving north. As the fourth strongest of the five vampire clans, the Glacos have honed their resilience in the face of adversity.

MATUZSÁ

Clan Matuzsá, one of the five vampire factions ruling Tristan, holds dominion over the western reaches of the country. Uniquely among the clans, the Matuzsá primarily consist of created vampires, a choice that has left them grappling with an inescapable fate: the relentless decay of their once-human bodies. Centuries of unchecked rot have left most Matuzsá half-decayed, their physiques slowly crumbling away. To temporarily stem this horrifying deterioration, the clan has been forced to consume vast quantities of blood - far more than any of their kin. Alas, this grim necessity has rendered the Matuzsá the weakest and most pitiable of Tristan's vampire clans.
